Senior Editor at The Athletic
Hi, I’m Jess. I am a writer, editor, and strategist who loves the intersection of data, storytelling, and community.
Currently, I serve as a Senior Editor and columnist at The Athletic (The New York Times). In this role, I am deeply hands-on: I touch every piece of content that comes through the desk, applying my expertise in developmental, content, and copy editing to ensure the highest quality. I also collaborate on editorial strategy and manage writers and analysts to produce insights and articles in the fantasy sports space, while staying grounded in the craft of writing itself.
My path to the sports world was eclectic: I’ve managed literary magazines like the Gettysburg Review, led the newsroom at the Philadelphia Gay News, and performed quality control on medical examinations for the NBME.
Whether I’m strategizing for the upcoming fantasy season or ensuring accessibility compliance for a book press, my goal is the same: clarity, accuracy, and engagement. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and was proud to be named one of Editor & Publisher’s Top 25 Editors Under 35 in 2020.
